Not recommended at all. Under renovation and being hotel they have not even mentioned anywhere that the hotel is under renovation. Limited breakfast at the temporary place and for that they are charging extremely high rates. The kind of room rates they are charging it not worth it at all. No room service and no food arrangements if you need something in the night. Small TV in the rooms in the era where the 5* star placing HD TVs. Room elevators are in mess and you will scared when you use them, they sound very dangerous and when you ring the emergency help bell nobody even bothers to come for help.

The room itself was ok - def better in pics. It was also quite warm despite trying to lower the temp. Our main issue was our last night there, our friend got stuck in the elevator for over 30 mins. She didn't have her phone so we had no idea where she was, she went downstairs to ask for silverwares and got stuck on her way up. We were getting worried since it was around 4 am and we can't get a hold of her. My brother went dowsntairs to ask if they've seen her and the guy(I think his name was Fernando) said he didn't cause he just got in, so my brother asked him to ask the person that was there before him - Fernando then made a phone call and said the person said he didn't see her either. My brother ended up going outside to walk around to look for her - when he came back to the hotel the staff and someone else were talking about someone that was stuck in the elevator and my brother was asking if it was her and they said no. They absolutely saw her since she went to the front desk to ask for the silverware. We have no idea why they had to lie about this and caused such a panic! Nothing was offered other than sorry for the inconvenience. Never staying here again.

The location was handy for site seeing being close to a metro station and lots of shops but it also put us in some scary situations with riots by hard right protesters targeting the left-wing headquarters which are in the same area. One night we had to fight our way up from the metro through fascist mobs who were blocking the exit. I shouted at them and got us out but it was scary and unpredictable and could have ended badly. We stayed in room 408. The hotel’s 80s decor is shabby, dirty and needs replacing asap. Carpets stained, cabinets broken, tiles are cracked. In the bathroom the toilet is wobbly and not stable to sit on. The windows are unopenable- apparently they are hermetically sealed meaning no fresh air is available in the room yet the noise from the street is still loud and clearly one window is not properly closed- so the worst of both worlds as the room was constantly over-warm and noisy. The air-con was only discovered a couple of days in, but was so difficult to understand that we gave up trying to cool the place down. In November we were getting dressed last thing to avoid sweating in our clean clothes. We didn’t like the mean male receptionist who refused to help us book another night when we realised we’d booked too few. Presumably he was aware that we’d easily be able to book another using booking.com or another site, but didn’t feel the inclination to offer any reassurance or advice, preferring to raise our stress levels by insisting there was no availability at all. Someone else apologised for him unprompted the next day, but no-one wants to have to rely on these petty abusers of their power. We didn’t like the fact that the €200 we found on the floor and handed in was not offered back to us when we left (I don’t think anyone claimed it so the reception staff probably kept it, and we were intending to divide it between the staff who had helped us). The pool was disappointing - dark and small and requires a swimming cap- and you’re not allowed to go unless you want to do lengths- a strict half hour only. This was not at all apparent from the hotel website so don’t promise your kids a swim. I had specifically wanted a swimming pool to use but this wasn’t what I was after. I found it difficult to stay in the lobby where the stench of aftershave catches the back of your throat - there is such a thing as too much guys!! And there is an air of unfriendliness there, I was stared at by security guards every time I entered. The tv is only good for Spanish speakers with no international channels at all, the mugs are tiny and the kettle is not made for its base. And finally, do the builders have to start drilling at 8 in the morning? In our room the noise was constant- so much for the advertised sound-proofed rooms. We did however, appreciate the friendly bar staff and the cleaning staff, the room was large and the key cards always worked. The bed was huge and comfortable but too hot at night. There was a new- looking iron and board, not that we needed them, and a nice selection of toiletries. However I doubt we would go here again.

My wife and I had a 6 nts stay in Princesa Plaza Madrid Sept 2023 stayed at room 356 and had a pleasant time. Room was spacious & relaxing and cleaned daily except they don’t give you new towels daily. Quiet Location, to center is about leisurely 15 min walk or about a mile. El Corte Ingles department store and restaurants next to it. Madrid, at least within the city center, feels like a safe area and very clean. People are friendly, helpful and disciplined. I still cannot get over how clean the streets are. Very impressed with the people of Madrid and city’s up keep. Princesa Plaza would still be in our list for a place to stay on our next visit to Madrid. Thank you to Princesa Plaza Madrid from New Jersey

The room we booked was a suite at more than €300 per night, spacious and comfortable, although poorly maintained, with an old bathroom, and a poor Wi-Fi signal. As soon as you enter the hotel lobby, you notice the service of security guards with shackles hanging from their belts, who scan you and check you from top to bottom, in the most purest style of the hotel Custodios in Cuba. When we approach the reception desk and try to check in, an unfriendly receptionist with a foreign accent speaking Spanish, angrily demands payment in advance of the total amount. I believed that leaving a copy of the debit card was enough, but that was not the case, with the aforementioned receptionist justifying the measure due to the large number of guests who leave without paying for the hotel. After what happened the next night, I wasn't surprised at all. It turns out that when we returned to the hotel at 10.30 pm we saw that the room was still unmade, I thought it had been an oversight, however, when we went down to reception and asked them to make up the room for us, and change our towels, the reaction of the staff was totally evasive. At our insistence, demanding that they should make the room, as it was one of their contractual obligation, and after insisting again and again that they either make the room for us or return part of the amount already paid, the person in charge of reception called the National Police, showing at the hotel in 2 mnts, three patrols of PN troops, at least more than 12 people armed and wearing bulletproof vests, anti-riot type. We were perplexed by the treatment we were receiving from some reception employees, who did not want to call the hotel Director, as we repeatedly asked. This has been the reaction of the staff of this hotel, intimidating some clients who came to spend a peaceful weekend with their family. When we realized that the hotel was failing to comply with one of its contractual obligations, cleaning the room every day, cleaning the bathrooms , making the beds and changing the towels, the staff at reception, instead of rectifying, they were evasive, and when they noticed that we continued to insist, they decided to call the Police to scare us. Embarrassing behavior towards some clients, who were forced to identify themselves to the Police, who after learning the facts simply left the hotel. It is clear that the 4 stars of this hotel have been given for free to them, or probably won on a raffle. They are a fake, too much for this poor hotel establishment, with this unprofessional and unfriendly staff. Never again.
